It was only after the adapter overheated the first time that I learned it should not stay connected to the Tesla wall connector cable, or in the car, when not in use. I made a warranty claim and Lectron honored it, so I thought it would be ok moving forward. After about 2 months with the replacement (July and August. in Mid-Atlantic) did it start overheating again. Lectron agreed to another replacement, so that should be coming soon, but it is a little inconvenient not to be able to charge at home in the meantime. It’s easy enough to use, but not sure about the durability in warmer temperatures.
Update (10/13/2025): Lectron support has been excellent through the whole ordeal. I have received my second replacement about 10 days ago, and I haven’t encountered any problems. My first thought is that the cooler weather may be helping, so I am going to charge according to their instructions and see how it performs for the next few months.

I recently traded in my Tesla Model Y Performance for a Ford Lightning and purchased the Lectron Tesla-to-J1772 adapter so I could continue using my Tesla Wall Connector. Initially, I tried the 48a adapter and experienced some charging quirks. In hindsight, those issues were likely tied to my Tesla Wall Connector rather than the adapter itself, as Tesla later confirmed the charger’s temperature monitoring system wasn’t functioning properly.

What truly stood out was Lectron’s exceptional customer support. They were proactive, patient, and incredibly responsive throughout the entire process. Returns were handled quickly, follow-ups were consistent, and their team gave me complete confidence that they stand firmly behind their products. After discussing my options, I upgraded to the 80a adapter—and it has been flawless. With my Wall Connector replaced under warranty, my Lightning now charges at the full 48a without a single hiccup, and I couldn’t be happier.

Even though my situation was complicated by the Wall Connector issue, Lectron went above and beyond to ensure I was taken care of. Their commitment to customer satisfaction is top-notch, and the 80a adapter has proven to be a rock-solid solution. I would highly recommend Lectron—not just for the quality of their adapters, but for the way they stand by their customers every step of the way.

First ever 1 star review I’ve felt the need to post, in hopes of sparing someone else. Bought the Lectron adapter for my Porsche Taycan 4S because it appeared to be the best adapter available (clean branding, higher price point, plenty of orders, etc) but that was a huge mistake. The adapter worked for about 10 uses, then I started getting an overheating warning on both my car’s charging port and on the Gen 3 Tesla Wall Charger as well. The car would charge properly for about an hour, but as time progresses the adapter heats up and charging kWh slows down from 8.8 to about 2 before it eventually quits due to overheating.

I spent 3 full days troubleshooting, and I’m a pretty resourceful person. From verifying that both the Porsche and Wall Charger are up to date, to ensuring that my 50 amp breaker has a max output of 40 amps, to even putting the Tesla Charger into “Compatibility Mode” which is designed to work for non-Tesla vehicles – nothing worked. After speaking with a representative from the Tesla Wall Charger support team, they were able to tell me first hand that Lectron complaints have skyrocketed on their end and that the higher ups are aware and actively trying to figure out a solution to this. They said something is off between the communication between the Tesla Charger and the adapter itself.

Other details important to note: Lectron has not responded to my voicemail and 3 calls I’ve left them over the last 2 weeks. I also noticed they have dropped the price on this exact product over the last couple of weeks. Perhaps they are finally experiencing the impact of a inadequate product.

My solution: I returned the product and ordered a replacement adapter. I won’t be saying the replacement’s brand name because this is not intended to be a shoutout to another competitor. I will say that this replacement is LESS money, rated at 80 amps instead of 48, and has zero issues reported to the Tesla Wall Connector Support Team, whereas Lectron had several issues reported.

Do not buy this product. It could have caused serious damage to my tesla wall charger, my rather expensive car, or worse, it could have burned down my house!

Works awesome with my Ford Mach-E. Have used the adapter on several road trips and love being able to charge at hotels that only have Tesla / NACS chargers. Super simple and this allows me to not worry about finding a regular / old J1772 charger. Plus I’ve actually used this at my friend’s house with his Tesla charger.
